Things you should never do to your pipes

Pipes are very important to your home and need to be taken care of properly. Here’s a list of things you should never to do your pipes:

  • Don’t pour bleach down your drain: Some people believe that pouring bleach down your drain helps to clean it, but it actually damages your drain and pipes. Bleach can react with other substances in your pipes and potentially cause toxic fumes.
  • Don’t dump grease down your drain: After cooking something, it’s tempting to pour the grease down the drain, but it’s important that you don’t because grease gets stuck in your pipes and clogs them.
  • Don’t speed up the thawing of a frozen pipe: Frozen pipes can be a pain, but you should not try things to speed up the thawing. Some try to use a propane torch to thaw the water, but that can melt the pipe or set something nearby on fire.
